STAMPS:

Question: How are bastisRIKE stamps made?
My stamp designs are not created on the computer. They are based on ink drawings and paper cuts. In the course of the digitalization necessary for production, I do not make any changes to the motifs. This preserves the character and charm of the handmade motif template.
Printing plates and woods are made in German handicraft enterprises. The printing plates are made of stamp rubber (synthetic), which allows a detailed print image and is also very durable. The wood is made of domestic beech wood, which comes from FSC stocks. Between the stamp plate and the wood, a rubber layer cushions the print, allowing for a beautiful, even print image.

Question: Why don't you have your stamping plates made from natural rubber?
First of all: The term "natural rubber" unfortunately is not protected and ultimately says nothing about the exact material composition.
But back to the question: I have made several attempts to find a sustainable material for my stamps. I also had natural rubber in my assortment for a short time. However, this material has several disadvantages:
For one, it creates a high level of odor when the stamp plates are processed. On the other hand, natural rubber has long transport routes behind it. The main countries where natural rubber is grown are Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. Furthermore - and this was ultimately decisive for my decision against natural rubber - there are currently no certified natural rubber stamp plates. Cultivation is usually done conventionally in monocultures and with high pesticide use. Without certification, it is impossible for me as a consumer to understand whether the material was grown under ecological and social standards that are sustainable and fair to the farmers. Reasons enough to decide against using it at the moment.
In addition, natural rubber that is processed into stamp plates has undergone manufacturing processes that call into question its biodegradability, which is often touted as an advantage. In the end, it is no longer a purely natural product.
Currently, bastisRIKE's stamp plates are therefore made of synthetic rubber. This is petroleum-based and yes, plastic remains plastic. But as so often, there is not the one sustainable solution.

Question: Do you have any stamping tips for me?
For a successful stamp image, ink the stamp sparingly and press it gently onto the paper. It should not "hit" the paper, but rather "kiss" it. After use, stamp it dry on scratch paper. Water is usually sufficient for a more thorough cleaning. Then dry it off and it can look forward to its next use.

Question: Can I print on fabric with bastisRIKE stamps?
Yes, the quality of the imprint always depends on the fabric used, its structure and also on the color used.

Question: Do you also make stamp designs to custom order?
Yes, on the one hand I offer individual address stamps via the shop and on the other hand I am happy about order requests.

Question: Can I print and sell products with your stamps?
No. bastisRIKE's stamps are for personal, non-commercial use only.
